Dan's British Columbia moose and mountain caribou from late September 2007. Both were shot with the Lilja barreled 340 Weatherby Mag, 250 gr. Sierra Game King bullets and a Nightforce 2.5 x 10 NXS scope with the NP1 reticle. Click Here for more on this hunt.

Steve Hallenbeck of Alaska sent us these pictures of two dandy Dall rams and a grizzly he and his brother Gary shot in the Brooks range. Steve's ram was 14 years old too. Not many rams live that long anywhere. They both used rifles with Lilja barrels gunsmithed by Kevin Weaver. What a great hunt.

A 20 year old grizzly from the Brooks range shot by Gary Hallenbeck and a Lilja 340 Wby Mag barrel. The skull measures 20" - very nice for a Brooks range bear.

Dan's May 2007 Prince Of Wales Island, Alaska black bear. This is an honest 7' - 8" black bear with an official B&C skull score of 21 - 0/16". The rifle is his Lilja barreled 340 Wby Mag on a Remington 700 SS action, McMillan stock and a Nightforce 2.5-10 NXS scope. This big boy measures over a foot between his ears. Alaska resident Steve Hallenbeck sent us a couple of pictures of a recent self-guided dall sheep hunt he and his buddy Kyle went on. They're both dandy rams and shot in the same part of the Chugach mountains that Dan hunted for sheep in1997. Steve and Kyle used the same rifle with one of our barrels and Steve sent this note along with the pictures: "My ram is 11yrs old, 36” x 13.75”. I took him in the Chugach Mountains at 403 yards with a rifle built by Kevin Weaver chambered in 280 Ackley using your barrel. The very first 3 shot group on paper (after break-in) was .488”, shooting 160 Nosler Accubonds, and this is from a pencil thin Mountain Rifle Barrel Contour. This rifle is built on a 700 Titanium action; gun/scope and all weigh 6 lbs 1oz." An 11 year old ram is exceptionally old for this rugged country. Dan also hunted goats in the Chugach in 2000.

Chuck Lester from Anchorage sent us this picture with the following:

"We stalked within 75 yards as it was on a berry patch. My friend was the shooter and hit it hard with the first shot from a .338. I followed up on the shoulder with my Lilja .375H&H. It tried to run down hill from us, but we put two more shots into it. My friend hit it in the front paw and I hit it in the side quartering away (almost Texas heart shot), which exited the neck. It was pretty much dead after the first two shots, but it just didn't know it yet. Probably only ran about 50-75 yards before piling up in the alders. We saw five grizzlies total. Took an even prettier one last year...all blond". Chuck is on the right in the image and has a number of Lilja barrels he uses hunting in Alaska.
