Utah Backcountry

This is the Happy Canyon airstrip in southeastern Utah. An old uranium mine, it is now just used by recreational pilots. There is a pilot registery in an old shack here. I signed in when I stopped in early October of 2003 on my way home from Phoenix, AZ. Interestingly no one had signed in before then since April. No doubt the heat is just too fierce during the summer. Very remote country.
